Thermal Analysis and Kinetic Modeling of Pyrolysis and Oxidation of Hydrochars

This study examines the kinetics of pyrolysis and oxidation hydrochars through thermal analysis. Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) techniques were used to investigate decomposition profiles develop two distributed activation energy models (DAEM) derived from hydrothermal carbonization grape seeds produced at different temperatures (180, 220, 250 °C). Data collected 1, 3, 10 °C/min between 30 700 °C. TGA data highlighted a profile similar that raw biomass for obtained 180 220 °C (with clear distinction oil, cellulosic, hemicellulosic, lignin-like compounds), while presenting more stable hydrochar. DSC showed certain exothermic behavior during hydrochars, an aspect also investigated thermodynamic simulations in Aspen Plus. Regarding DAEM, according Gaussian model, severity treatment slightly affects kinetic parameters, with average energies 193 kJ/mol. Meanwhile, Miura–Maki model highlights distributions pre-exponential factor decomposition.
